• As an introductory course, this class focuses primarily on IT systems which are designed and implemented to support organitions' fundamental, daily operations (Manufacturing and operations, sales and marketing, finance and acounting, & Human resource management: Management Information Systems, MIS). The most important issues covered are that the impact of IT to our organizations, management, and business processes. "Good Management - rather than more computing power - is the key to higher productivity." Some technical knowledge (database and the Internet) will be explored to comprehense today's MIS operations for managing businesses, i.e., The use of information technology to integrate inter-departments business process (Enterprise Resources Planning, ERP), to coordinate the supply chain effectively (Supply Chain Management, SCM), to build strong customer relationships (Customer Relationship Management, CRM), and to build a digital firm (eBusiness) will be briefly discussed.
• Textbook : Laudon and Laudon, 2010, Management Information Systems: Managing the Digital Firm, 11^th ed. Prentice Hall, 新月、東華 (Publisher's local rep).

Midterm and Final Exam each 30%, Textbook minicases presentations 10%, Enterprise 2.0 project 15%, Virtual store 15%. Virtual store's preview (first page) 15% Virtual store's Grand Opening (all done) 85% Exams are all simple essay questions, OPEN textbooks only, (80 minutes). All students are required to be seated on assigned seats.

• Please store one copy of your presentation's powerpoint online (gmail, hotmail, ...) for contingency. The USB ports of our classroom's computers are not as reliable as you thought. You might be not able to access your powerpoint from your beloved USB mini hard drive.

FAQ for Virtual Store The filename for your homepage must be "index.htm" or "index.html" Your URL: "http://bm.nsysu.edu.tw/class/mis12ibxx" Your homepage has to reside on bm.nsysu.edu.tw   all other pages can reside anywhere in the world. my homepage shows Forbidden You don't have permission to access /misibyy/ on this server. The filename of your homepage has to be "index.htm" (or index.html). ps. lowercase, please! The pictures of my webpages are missing make sure all of your webpages and pictures reside in the same disk. i.e., your webpages are under the directory of frontpages. and your image library is in USB mini hard drive. this will lead to the problem. FTP all the webpages to "root directory," otherwise, no webpage will be displayed our bm server does not require a www subdirectory as some old systems do. Counter service from nsysu     1023

  • There is NO one-size-fits-all technology. No matter how powerful the tools are, They won't help business in all aspects. GM terminated paid ads in Facebook; however, still remains presence in fan pages management.
  • The key is always on YOU: your knowledge in product and service, your competence to retrofit products and technology, and your ability to drive your team members.
